End of the Road?

Revis-vs

As a few days passed and the rumors of Schottenheimer's imminent departure continuing to swirl I believed I was finally on the road to recovery. I was finally eating solid foods again and things were looking good. That was until I heard this doozy from my favorite Florham Park idiot, "We may have lost the game, but Santa still came." Easy to say when you make grew up with a silver spoon in your mouth, maintain a 7 figure salary, and sleep easy you work in a profession filled with people dumb enough to keep you employed for years to come despite statistically being one of the worst performers at your duties. Just an ass who doesn't get it. Most Jets fans had their Christmas ruined by their loss, yet Schottey finds the silver lining. WEEK 17:Don't want to get into a big breakdown of this week's game against the Dolphins because we already know most of the script. Without having to worry about the elusive Reggie Bush the Jets should be able to contain the Fins ground game, although we expect Matt Moore to make some plays against the Jets secondary - even Revis. The Jets never seem to cover a TE so why start now? Eric Smith will still be Eric Smith so we all know the Jets safeties are vulnerable. We don't expect the Dolphins to go too crazy now, but we think they are capable of producing 17 points on their own plus whatever else the Jets offense gives them off of turnovers. Overall we expect the defense to play well and put the Jets in position to win, just as they normally do. Will the offense produce a net gain of 18 points? That is the $64,000 question. Every week we can't think its possible for the Jets not to be capable of producing just an adequate effort, and time after time we get the same garbage. We expect the Jets to get back to their running game, but Schottey is just dumb enough to run the ball every down without blending in the passing game. Or maybe we get a game like we did last January in Foxborough? Who knows. We think the Jets need to find a way to get those positive 18 points and they win, if not they lose. Simple as that. PLAYOFFS? We all know that in addition to a win over the Dolphins, the Jets need 3 things to work their way and unlock that back door into the playoffs once again. Titans loss, Bengals loss and either a Broncos/Raiders loss. Lets start with the good news. We believe that if the Texans can find a way to beat the Titans at 1 PM, it could be a very festive New Years dinner. With the Ravens playing for the bye week and potentially home field advantage we expect them to win a tight battle with the Bengals. We also have a feeling that Kyle Orton will lead the Chiefs over the Broncos. We even have a little faith that the Chargers may beat the Raiders because Rivers is the better QB. With a Jets win that would put their fate into the hands of the Texans. Reading the Houston Chronicle this week I got a good feeling that the Texans want to get back in the win column and won't just lay down for the Titans. Texans seem to be angry about a few Pro Bowl snubs to their #2 ranked defense, get Wade Phillips back on their sideline, and are playing at home on 9 days rest. Texans backup QB is Jake Delhomme who might take advantage of any playing time to impress his coaches and show why he should get the nod in the playoffs. Starter T.J. Yates wants to prove he is capable of leading the Texans deep into January. Of course the down side is the Jets could get all the breaks in the world, make the playoffs and then we could be stuck with a certain offensive coordinator for another year. The bad news is the Jets true odds of getting help are approximately 18.5%.
